
UF Information Technology Certification (UF ITC), formerly known as the Computer Challenge, offers free, guided programs and recognition to University of Florida faculty and staff for increasing their computer knowledge and skills.
Goals of the UF ITC ProgramThe primary goal of UF ITC is to provide a unified system for pursuing IT Training at UF. Certification tracks offer a focused set of applicable skills which users can use to enhance their job qualifications. Courses are provided by an array of departments across the university and can be put toward a certificate regardless of the training provider. The list of certification tracks will help you decide which is best for you.By earning these certificates, faculty and staff will broaden their skill set and add value to their position at the university. Computer skills learned through these certificates will aid in productivity, creativity and precision of current and future tasks. Faculty and staff will make themselves a more valuable member of any team by achieving UF ITCs. UF Administrative Computing Systems (myUFL/PeopleSoft)In addition to providing an organized plan for upgrading general IT skills, the various IT Certificate tracks can also be important foundations for specialized training in the use of the myUFL/PeopleSoft systems. This specialized training is offered by UF Human Resource Services and is intended for UF administrative professionals who need a firm grasp of the University's administrative computing systems. |
Earning a CertificateUF ITC tracks include basic foundations, classroom technology, multimedia, database, desktop publishing, networking, web development, programming and system administration. Specific certficates contain between eight and ten courses; this is dependent on what required courses have already been completed.All certificates require that users complete both the Acceptable Use Policy course and a security course. The majority of the remaining courses are offered at different levels and locations to cater to individual needs. To determine which certificate meets your goals, please review the available certificate tracks. When you have decided on a certificate, logon to the Your Transcript page and indicate your choice. After starting the first course, you have 18 months to finish your selected track. Certificates are awarded once per semester, along with a special gift. You will be notified when and where the certifications will be presented (certificates may also be mailed upon request). |
